“They send a person who can never stay,” she whispered. “Who can never accept my offer of companionship for more than a little while. They send me a hero I can’t help…just the sort of person I can’t help falling in love with.”
-Calypso, The Battle of the Labyrinth
So I was reading through this book the other day and came across the part about Calypso's island. I forgot all about her curse and so her story really got to me. I like how she taught Percy that things weren't just black and white, good or evil, in the world. --
"You were the spy." Silena tried to nod. "Before...before I liked Charlie, Luke was nice to me. He was so charming. Handsome. Later I wanted to stop helping him, but he threatened to tell. He promised...he promised I was saving lives. Fewer people would get hurt. He told me he wouldn't hurt...Charlie. He lied to me."
-Silena Beauregard, The Last Olympian
I remember reading The Last Olympian in my car on the way home in some absurd position and this part really caught me off guard. I mean, like really off guard. Silena jumped from being just another side character to one of my favorites.
Silena... Oh this makes me replay her brave moment in my head. She was brave and yeah, your right, in that moment she meant more to me than just that cute side character that really liked clean cabins and was beautiful. She was a hero, and I will alwas remember to be one.
... Hey look it says 5.18.12 my birthday!
Yeah, I know how you fell. LOL
For me was the same thing!
